Canon EOS 350D

The Canon EOS 350D (known as Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT in North America, and Canon EOS Kiss Digital N in Japan) was originally launched early in 2005. It has an APS-C sensor with 8.0 megapixels, and Canon's DIGIC II image processing chip.

This camera originally belonged to my dad, but since he rarely made any use of it I asked to borrow it as an experiment when I got my first telescope. I used it for some moon images which were reasonably impressive despite my lack of knowledge about shooting in raw mode. I made one of the classic rookie mistakes of shooting JPG images and spent ages trying to figure out how to stack them to produce a final image. Bootom line is that my first attempts were good enough to get me much more seriously interested in trying to do better in future.

After retaining possession of the camera for some time, my dad eventually decided to buy a new one and told me to keep this one. If pushed, he may even admit that he doesn't really make any more use of the new one than he ever did of this one.
